Sunday, March 14 2010, 7:00pm
Rabbi Gil Nativ comes to Shaare Torah to speak on "A Bridge Between the Extremes" on Sunday March 14th at 7:00pm.  Rabbi Nativ will address what's happening at the Kotel in Jerusalem and issues of "synagogue and state" as an example of a human rights issue within the Jewish community.  Rabbi Nativ will discuss more generally Jewish concerns for human rights, including the Palestinians, workers here in the US and the issues of women's rights and non-Orthodox rights in Israel. Mark your calendars!

Rabbi Gil Nativ is a third generation Sabra born in Haifa. He was educated and ordained in Israel and is well known for his skills in Talmudic teaching, having served as a Talmudic lecturer at Haifa University, Leo Baeck College in London, and the University of Judaism in Los Angeles. He has also served as President of Israel’s Rabbinical Assembly.

Rabbi Nativ received his ordination from Hebrew Union College in Jerusalem and his Doctorate in Rabbinic Literature from Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. When he is not studying a page of the Talmud or folk dancing, Rabbi Nativ wields the poet's pen. He has published three booklets of Hebrew verse: "Standing" (1993), "Woe to you if you call" and "Drashirim" (September 2000).
